Membership Recruitment
SCoPe welcomes new members who could help to further enhance the
vibrancy and dynamism of the software industry in Penang . Any firm,
society, company, individual or division are invited to join the
Penang-based software fraternity to collaborate in producing
innovative and best-in-class products for the local, regional and
global consumer, commercial and industrial markets.
The membership criteria are as follows:
Eligibility
: Any firm, society, company, individual or division (to
be referred to as Entity hereafter) thereof registered or
incorporated under the Companies Act 1965 or under the Association
Act 1966 in Malaysia or holds a Malaysian citizenship and conducting
business in IT software, IT services, Internet, e-commerce or IT
enabled services, and/or associated services is eligible to apply
for membership provided:

Its main activity is development of IT software-related
activities, such as research, design and development
-
It performs this activity for commercial gain; and
-
Its core software product (s) is/are developed in Penang
The above criteria are not applicable for those under the Associate
Category of “Institutional Members”.
The membership categories are divided into two categories
comprising Registered Members and Associate Members and are
subject to the following terms and conditions:
Ordinary Member : IT software companies incorporated
under the Companies Act 1965 and include the following entities:

Software Development Entities
-
Software Product Entities
-
E-Commerce Entities
-
System Integrators
Associate Member : They comprise of the following:
-
Overseas IT software entities that have liaison office
registered in Penang ;

Institutional Members: Companies that are not in the core area
of development of IT softwares but provide support services or
are affiliated to IT services, which includes the following
categories:

NGOs
-
Government Organisations/Departments
-
Societies engaged in promotion of IT
-
Financial Institutions
-
Venture Capital Firms
-
Research Institutions
-
Infrastructure Providers
-
Management Consultants
-
Non Profit Organisations
-
Resellers of Branded Software Packages
-
IT Services Entities
-
Entities that provide services to IT industry
Important Note: Associate members enjoy all the benefits of
membership but are not entitled to vote at any meeting of the
Association.
A student of the University or College-University would not be
accepted as a member of the Society; with the exception of a written
permission from the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Act as a bridge to network and liaison with the Penang State
Government and Federal Government

Membership Fee

Membership Processing Fee : RM100 (one-time payment for new
members)

Membership Fee : RM100 (annual subscription fee)

The following procedures are to be adhered to:

A completed membership form is to be submitted to the
Secretariat and applicant would be called upon to furnish
information pertaining to its eligibility and give a short
presentation on its company profile.

Applicants would be required to settle a processing fee of RM100
and an annual membership fee of RM100 upon approval of
membership prior to the full acceptance as a member of SCoPe and
bestowed the rights of a member.

It must be noted that the Executive Committee of SCoPe reserves
the rights to reject membership or not to accept an application,
without assigning any reason thereof.
