SCoPe – Software Consortium of Penang
VISION
"To Drive Value-Added Growth in Penang 's
k-Economy"
The Software Consortium of Penang
or SCoPe, in short, was established in 2003,
as an initiative of Penang State Government to promote and
encourage higher value-added activities in Penang. SCoPe is
an alliance of Penang-based software companies with diverse
product and service portfolios.
Penang State Government continues to provide support and guidance
on the direction of SCoPe. SCoPe is also affiliated with key institutions
of the Penang State Government, such as the Penang Development Corporation
(PDC), Invest-in-Penang Berhad , Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC)
and Socio-economic & Environmental Research Institute (SERI).
MISSION
To nurture and strengthen globally competitive companies among
its members.
OBJECTIVES
- Establishing a comprehensive roadmap for the development
of local software industry through identification of new
technologies, new markets and growth areas/clusters;
- Promoting locally-developed software within Malaysia
and eventually regionally and globally;
- Ensuring and nurturing development of quality software;
and
- Strengthening networking and collaboration at local,
regional and global level.
As at 1 May 2007, SCoPe has 46 members, with
a collective annual turnover of more than RM 270 million.
Collectively, these 46 member companies employ a total of
more than 1400 employees. 83% of member companies' technical
resources are based in Penang, Malaysia.
Our member companies offer a wide range of
solutions and products from system automation, e-business
software, web applications, web-based application components
development, knowledge management systems, e-recruitment,
quality management software, logistics, and telecommunication,
to equipment integration solutions, supply chain solutions
and much more.
